The independent professional development service for investment portfolio construction practitioners

G'day

This week's Fodder provides a taste of what's to come in the next few weeks, as we work to publish the online Resources Kit from last week's PortfolioConstruction Forum Conference 2014. Once complete, it will include video/audio with sync'd slides, podcasts and papers for all 19 Critical Issues Forum sessions, 5 Thought Pieces, 15 Due Diligence Forum sessions, and 12 Finology Forum sessions. The team is working flat out on it, and material will start going live next week. So - even if you weren't one of the 600+ delegates who attended over the three day program (98% of whom said Conference 2014 provided material, valuable insights) you can still "attend” via the Resources Kit.

Meanwhile, though, this week's Fodder provides you with two pieces to get started. The first is the latest PortfolioConstruction Forum Backgrounder "Finology: where investing meets investors" which introduces the most important ideas from this emerging research field that covers the study of minds, customs and behaviours with respect to money. The Backgrounder also offers some of the key applications of finology to improving the quality of our communication with investors. Yes, we all think we're great communicators, of course!  But there is more science to effective communication with investors than most of us know - and finology provides lessons for us all.  Directly related to

the Backgrounder, our second piece is by our Accreditation Manager, Angela Ashton, who has written up of her top 5 key takeouts from the one-day Finology Forum program.
All the best for some great weekend learning - Graham
P.S. For more from Finology Forum,
check out Simon Hoyle's write up.

The global obsession with US data
Since 2010, there has been an almost perfect correlation between the strength of the US economy and stock markets outside the US. But this is set to diminish.
