Tim Farrelly, farrelly's - Are you a return maximiser or a risk minimiser?

It's a simple question. But one which many financial advisers struggle to answer in a reasoned, coherent way. By the end of this session, you'll understand why you must decide whether you are a return maximiser or a risk minimiser and the implications for building portfolios.

Tim is the principal of farrelly’s, the first dedicated asset allocation research house in New Zealand and Australia. Prior to founding farrelly’s in 2004, he was an Executive Director of Macquarie, serving on its Asset Allocation and Risk Committees. He has a MBA (Distinction) from Harvard Business School.

3.30pm

Paul Barrett, ANZ Advice Australia - The future of financial advice
- moderated by David Greenslade, Strategi

The New Zealand government has made no secret of the fact that the new financial adviser regulatory environment owes more than a passing nod to the Australian regulatory environment. And the CEO of NZ's new Financial Markets Authority left his position as senior executive leader of corporations for the Australian regulator to take up his new role as CEO of the FMA.  He is on record as saying that its holistic and unified regulatory approach is what the New Zealand government wants to emulate. So what does that mean for the future of financial advice in New Zealand?

Paul recently joined ANZ in Australia to head its advice operations, overseeing more than 2,100 advisers across the ANZ group, with more than AUD45 billion under advice. Prior to that, he was general manager of advice at Colonial First State, leading one of Australia's largest advice networks.

4.30pm

Brigadier (Retired) Anne Campbell - When the going gets tough...

Brigadier (Retired) Anne Campbell is one of those people you want to have beside you if you have to go to war or face a disaster. As a medical doctor and a disaster relief expert - from the battlegrounds of the world to the disaster zones of Indonesia, Samoa, Christchurch and countless others - she understands why some wilt and others lift themselves above the pain, frustration and trauma and become true leaders. She is a human dynamo, as hard as nails yet with a soft compassionate side that can make a grown man cry.

Anne will share her worldwide disaster experiences with us and provide valuable insights into how we can can all rise above disaster and build stronger relationships, businesses and lives.
