Since the end of the Second World War, the US dollar’s reserve currency status has supported liquidity and efficiency in the global financial system. From a US perspective, dollar dominance brings additional benefits, reducing borrowing costs and import prices, allowing domestic consumers to enhance their living standards. While the US dollar’s share of global foreign exchange reserves is in long-term decline, governments around the world continue to view America as reliable and stable, ensuring that the currency’s dominance will continue.
